WHAT IS A MAGNETIC CONTACTOR?

A single-phase magnetic contactor consists of three main parts: an electromagnetic system, a contact system, and an arc extinguishing system

Electromagnetic System

The electromagnetic system consists of an iron core, a return spring that moves the core back to its original position, and a coil that generates magnetic force. Its main function is to generate a magnetic field when the coil is energized.

Contact System

The contact system includes main contacts and auxiliary contacts:

• Main Contacts: The main contacts are normally open (NO). They close when power is supplied to the contactor coil, generating magnetic force that pulls the magnetic core together. These contacts are designed to carry high electrical currents.
• - Auxiliary Contacts: Auxiliary contacts have two states: Normally Closed (NC) and Normally Open (NO). They are designed to carry smaller electrical currents, typically below 5A.
